BETH KEEPING is a pop singer/songwriter from Surrey.
Her music is infectious, upbeat and fun. But don’t let that overshadow her lyrics. She has a lot to say and she is changing the world for the good.
Her music lets people know they are not alone in whatever situation they may be in. Most of us have gone through negative situations and we often feel like we’re the only ones. The honesty of opening up to admit her feelings takes courage. Especially when being vulnerable exposes a songwriter’s raw emotions to the world.
That can be frightening.
But she does it for the greater good. She says:
“I want to write about real situations, to create music that makes people breathe a sigh of relief and say ‘Thank goodness, I thought it was only me who felt that way’. Valuing honesty and realness in my writing style is key – it’s important to me that my music recognizes and deals with both the fun and the difficult times of life”.
Not only is Beth Keeping making a difference in the world through songwriting, she is helping to bring exposure to women in music. She is the founder of Write Like A Grrrl, which is an initiative that shines a spotlight on female songwriters.
She stands for rights of women and promotes equality in the music business. So why take on such a powerful cause like this? She says:
“It’s an idea I’ve had for years after I woke up to the gender imbalance at networking nights I was going to. In fact, only 17% of songwriters in the UK are women”.
She kicks off her “Write Like A Girl” tour next month. This track was just released and it is available for download now.
