We saw Judah & The Lion at The Hollywood Bowl w/ Incubus & Jimmy Eat World and were BLOWN AWAY!!!!!!!
These guys are not an opening act. Judah & The Lion are a ‘Stadium Tour Headlining Band’ and deserve the accompanying respect.
We were not familiar with their music until August 14, 2017. We got to the venue early enough to see Judah & The Lion’s entire set because we love finding bands like this and wanted to see what they were all about. Not to take anything away from Incubus or Jimmy Eat World because they are well deserving of the iconic status both bands have achieved. But, damn, after Judah was finished the bar was set really really REALLY high for the rest of the night.
At one point, Judah (Akers – lead vocalist) introduced themselves “We’re Judah & The Lion – The weirdo band” on the bill. He also said that they never wanted to try to be a cool band – They just wanted to make good music and put on a great show. Mission accomplished! They put on one of the best live concerts we have ever seen.
J&TL hit the stage at 6:45pm. They played for about 45 minutes. When they were on stage a majority of the seats were empty. Ticket holders had not filtered into the Hollywood Bowl yet. (That’s a shame, btw – Those people missed an incredible show). But even with few seats filled, Judah expressed extreme gratitude for those who were there. We have not been this impressed with a band since…well…EVER!
They ended the show with Judah Akers running into the crowd from the stage all the way to the last row. Then he jumped off the back and disappeared as the final song ended! It was AMAZING!
This band is our fave of 2017 by a long shot – Both musically and performance-wise. You HAVE to go see Judah & The Lion live this fall. They are all over the place between September and November (2017): Nashville, Bristol, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Denver, Milwaukee, Louisville, Memphis, New Orleans, Birmingham, Charleston, NYC, Buffalo, Boston, DC, Austin, Dallas, UK, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, France, Austria, Poland and many more. See them in a city near you (or travel). It’s worth it!
