Asha Drops New Alt Pop Track “Hard Shit”

Asha is a solo songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist whose music transcends genre. She loves experimenting in different styles from indie pop and rock to world music and trip hop. She started writing music in her teens and followed her passion for music for Northeastern University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree with a focus in Music Technology and Composition.

After graduating, she moved to Brooklyn where she honed her craft, collaborated with other indie musicians and grew into the music scene. Now a Los Angeles-based artist, she has self-released a few EPs and albums, and is looking forward to releasing her new album, Magic, later this year.

“This song is about dating, and how tough it is these days to meet someone who will stick around,” Asha says of the new track “Hard Shit.” “I have had so many bad dating experiences, some would say I have a treasure trove of bad relationships to pull from. I remember being in the shower and hearing the main chorus for Hard Shit in my head and immediately jumping out soaking wet to do a voice memo of what I was hearing. Then I ran to my computer and started recording. It all came together easily after that.”

“It’s one of those songs that I let happen organically and didn’t try too hard or edit myself. It was a message inside me that needed to get out and I let it happen, which to me are always the best songs. The ones that appear out of thin air and you can’t stop yourself from writing. Every friend who’s heard it has told me it’s incredibly catchy and extremely relatable. I knew this one was a fan favorite once I started performing it and people would be singing along and screaming HARD SHIT by the end. I think there is something cathartic about it and I hope other people find some release with Hard Shit just as much as I do every time I perform it or blast it on the stereo of my car.” “Also props to my bandmate Nick Spizziri for laying down a sick bass line on this track. And when approaching the music video for this one, I hired Zachary Sweet to do whatever he wanted and he had a lot of fun making a silly, little animated music video that I hope people enjoy.”
