The pair use 80’s tones and gently blushing piano keys to explore the difficult nuances of knowing a relationship is irreparable and yet still hoping for the best for the partner. Surprisingly positive chimes draw the song to an end, providing hope for the future. In the LP, At 1980 take us back to the year founding member Adrian Michelena was born, when records were king and bright neon colours marked every fashionista’s wardrobe.
Speaking of the track, Josh of At 1980 tells us, “‘Still On Your Side’ is a song that gives an insight into the perspective of someone telling a loved one that even though their relationship with each other may have broken down, they will always be there for them. We all have people in our lives that we once loved and were very close to but for whatever reason we are no longer in touch or as close as we once were. The song is a message to that lost love saying if you need me, I’m still on your side.”
