Hearts Apart “I Hate The Summer”

Vicenza-based band Hearts Apart have announced the release of “I Hate The Summer,” an explosive punk’n’roll track that will be part of their new EP, set to drop at the end of February via Epidemic Records.

The band comments:

“I Hate The Summer is a song that encapsulates much of what Hearts Apart is about: punk rock, desperation, rock’n’roll, sadness, fun, nerdy vibes, irony, failure. Yes, we believe you can sweat away the darkness by dancing and crying at the same time, and this song is perfect for that.”

Those who have already appreciated Hearts Apart’s electrifying energy, catchy melodies, and engaging live performances will be thrilled with this comeback. All the signature elements of their unique sound are present but cranked up to the next level. If “I Hate The Summer” sets the perfect mood for this return, the entire EP, titled “Summer Bummer,” is ready to give voice to the mix of conflicting emotions that summer tends to amplify.

This is it. This is the heart of Hearts Apart—the eternal Summer Bummer. The constant contrast between energy, sweat, redemption, fun, and at the same time, depression, darkness, failure, and despair. All together, always, without respite, without surrender. Six songs to survive these six very songs. Melody and tension, harmonies and sharp lies, sun and moon straight to the veins. A balance that remains distant. A stage that’s always close. Enjoy this cold, harsh, glacial summer of ours.

Who Are Hearts Apart?

The summer of 2018 marks the birth of Hearts Apart. At Lollollo Fest, on the shores of Lake Garda, between sets from Hooligans’n’Roses and Labradors, the idea of a band that channels existential unease into punk rock and rock’n’roll—while approaching their forties with Marked Men as a reference point—begins to take shape.

In no time, three friends find themselves in the rehearsal room, fueled by cheap beers and an atmosphere buzzing with inspiration. Within a year, they write 40 songs and go through two bassists: first, a devoted fan of The Stooges, then a veteran of bike polo.

The band made their live debut in the spring of 2021, reaching their first gig in a beat-up pickup truck at a mountain shelter 1,825 meters above sea level. Since then, their unstoppable energy has taken shape first in the Number One To No One EP (five tracks), followed by Bang! Wrong Again (six tracks). In March 2023, these two works were combined into a single LP—an auto-split release featuring two different covers, designed by Irene Palladini.

With three years of shows under their belt, Hearts Apart continue to bring their passion for punk rock, rock’n’roll, and pop punk to the stage, blending melody, intensity, and a healthy dose of self-irony. Their approach is direct, visceral, and emotional—crying while dancing is totally possible. Because, in the end, everything boils down to “Less machos, more nachos.” Clear? No. Does it make sense? Not really. Just like life itself, which Hearts Apart capture in their raw, heartfelt songs—songs that will make you cry and dance at the same time.

HEARTS APART are Checco, Giò, Punch, and Silva.

Epidemic Records invites you to mark your calendars for February 28th, when “Summer Bummer” will be released in both digital format and a limited edition vinyl.

Vinyl pre-orders will open in the coming weeks. Don’t miss out!
