Brisbane indie-folk duo – HOLLOW COVES – have shared their latest offering “Milk and Honey”, taken from a new album set for release in 2024. The track arrives with an official video directed by Nick McKinlay and the announcement of a full UK and European Tour (dates below).
A flickering feel-good folk anthem that stitches together wistful vocals and fluttering guitars to create a soundscape that is as soothing as it is sentimental, “Milk and Honey” is a nod from Hollow Coves to “remember the things that matter most.”
With the track’s initial melodies penned while on Australia’s Sunshine Coast with Matt Carins’ brother Ryan (of Australian/English band Greatest Hits). As Ryan Henderson explains:
“I picked up my guitar and we just started improvising melodies together and loads just flowed out. Just a couple of Ryans making music together. It wasn’t until later that Matt and I sat down with the melodies and started to write lyrics to them.”
Paying homage to the idea of living life in the moment instead of waiting for a sign, or the right moment, to appreciate what matters, Ryan adds:
“The melodies inspired us to write about how easy it can be to get caught in the hustle. We wanted to remind people to choose to look for the silver linings. To make the most out of what we’ve got. To see that there is beauty all around us.”
“Milk and Honey” follows the duo’s recent singles “Letting Go” and “Harder to Fake It”, with all three tracks ringing in the beginning of a new era for Hollow Coves. After amassing over 1 billion streams worldwide, cracking the Top 20 most used songs on Instagram Reels, and performing to euphoric crowds across the globe, it’s clear Matt and Ryan have a gift for connecting with people.

A dynamic indie-folk group brimming with their passion for travel and observing different shades of the world, Hollow Coves first caught attention with their debut EP ‘Wanderlust’ (2017) followed by their 2019 debut full-length ‘Moments’, whose songs were inspired by reflecting on a variety of moments and unforgettable shared experiences in their lives and the lives of those around them. In 2021, they shared their EP ‘Blessings’. Written and recorded in their home studio on the Gold Coast, the EP came together during a time where togetherness felt far away. Ryan and Matt turned inward, finding truths and stories in their respective pasts, and putting them to song.
The duo’s tender melodies and poignant lyrics have resonated with fans around the world with the band amassing over 1-billion on-demand global streams to date and boasting a YouTube channel subscriber base of 508k+. Singles “Coastline” and “The Woods” are certified Gold in Canada, with “Coastline” is certified “Gold” in Australia. Their songs have been used more than 700-million times alone on Facebook/Instagram to soundtrack user’s most unforgettable life events. Elsewhere in the media, Hollow Coves have received acclaim from the likes of Billboard, Clash, Sunday Times, Ones to Watch, Under the Radar, and more. It’s all proof positive that Hollow Coves continue to connect with the hearts and minds of listeners across borders and time zones.
