‘Easy’ is a take on dream pop and 80s synth wave sounds from Dublin’s Big Sleep. The track explores the realities of young people growing up in the digital age where comparison and self scrutiny are made easier than ever with social media at our fingertips. The track is inspired by the sounds of Tears for Fears, Men I Trust, Her’s and Dayglow. The second release off **Big Sleep’**s Sophomore 5-track EP, ‘Shivering’ was recorded, produced and mixed by James Smith (Gypsies on the Autobahn, J Smith) in Hellfire Studios in July 2022. Mastered by Pete Maher.
“‘Easy’ has a different energy from other tracks on the upcoming EP. It’s a really groove driven tune, we all agreed that one of the stand out parts for us was Aidan’s bassline and how it interacts with Matte’s drum part. The song came about one day while scrolling on YouTube when we came across a video of a drummer playing a Tame Impala inspired drum pattern which spurred the idea for the drum part in the track which is ironic since it’s a song about the Internet age we live in and the younger generation have trying to find their own voice in the midst of all the noise.” – Big Sleep
The Dublin-based group partly came together at school and other’s later joined through the city’s live music scene. Blending indie-alternative influences with pop and soul, the Irish-Italian outfit creates soundscapes that land in the intersection somewhere between JJ Cale, Jamiroqaui, and Joy Division. Summer 2022 saw the quartet release their Debut EP which received international radio play (BBC Radio 6, Amazing Radio, RTÉ 2FM) and featured on Spotify’s ‘Hot New Bands’, ‘All New Rock’ and ‘New Music Friday’ playlists alongside European tour dates across Ireland, Italy and France. Big Sleep also had packed out performances at Sea Sessions and Electric Picnic then finished 2022 with another Irish and UK Tour. The band kicked off 2023 by joining acclaimed indie rocker, Somebody’s Child on their Irish Tour and are set to release a string of singles ahead of their Sophomore EP release. Big Sleep will play The Workman’s Cellar on May 13th with support from Ellen Sleator in association with MCD.
