Following last year’s debut EP and a string of single releases, The Gleeman unveils the uplifting ‘Marie’ as the lead track from his forthcoming and highly anticipated debut album Something To Say.
Having cemented a growing fan base and garnered broad radio support from previous singles culminating in January’s ‘Summer Town’, The Gleeman now embarks upon the journey towards unveiling his debut album Something To Say by offering a first taste with the unashamedly hooky and upbeat ode to self-belief, ‘Marie’.
Out now, ‘Marie’ hangs its positive message on the line from the chorus “You can be anything you wanna be” – whatever you want to do or whoever you want to be, the track serves as an inspirational kickstart to us all to become the best and truest version of ourselves.
“‘Marie’ is the oldest song that made it on to the album, it’s very gratifying that the song has stood the test of time and that its messages of chasing your dreams, having self-belief, being true to yourself and being anything you want to be are as relevant today as they ever were.” – The Gleeman
The track was produced by Will Hicks (Ed Sheeran, James Blunt, Elton John) and features guitarist/pianist Fred Abbott (Noah and the Whale), drummer Ash Soan (Will Young, Tori Amos, Adele) and backing vocalist David Grant (Fame Academy, broadcaster and hit singer), with mixing duties performed by Ash Howes. ‘Marie’ will be available in a Dolby Atmos immersive surround mix on supporting platforms, which The Gleeman provided creative input for.
The Gleeman grew up in the small West Cornish town of Helston, a short drive west of Falmouth, where his early passion for music saw him move through the ranks from recorder to guitar to the school choir, and cornet in the local brass band. He was influenced by his love of piano men such as Billy Joel and Elton John, but was more a child of ‘80s pop, from Adam & the Ants to Frankie Goes To Hollywood, and via Queen on to the ‘90s bastions of Britpop.
Having previously received radio airplay from over one hundred stations including BBC regional radio and coverage from esteemed titles such as Songwriting Magazine, The Cornishman, Broken 8 Records and MusicNGear, The Gleeman is gearing up to release his debut full-length record Something to Say. The album follows on from debut EP ‘The Gunslinger’, released in 2022, and a string of singles such as ‘Armistice Day’ and ‘Summer Town’. Expect to hear The Gleeman’s honest take on themes of mental health, life milestones and loss balanced with uplifting and quirky storytelling throughout the album. There will be a run of live performances from this upcoming singer-songwriter preceding Something to Say, be sure to keep an eye on The Gleeman.
