The K’s “Landmines”

Ahead of a frantic festival season, Earlestown bred indie risers – THE K’S – release their 3rd offering of 2023 in the form of new single ‘Landmines’

In 2022 they threatened.. but 2023 is definitely looking like the year that Warrington based 4-piece The K’S become a serious ‘Force Majeure’.

The band promised a barrel-load of music this year to offset a live-show heavy 2022 and they have continued deliver on that promise with this, their latest offering and their 3rd single of the year, the adrenaline driven ‘Landmines’

Frontman Jamie Boyle gives a little further insight into the song’s inception..

‘Landmines is a memoir of myself growing up. It’s a story that is familiar to me, the band and thousands of other people across the UK who experienced the transition into adolescence living in a working-class town. The song sends many of us back to our late-teen days where the only recipe for a good night with friends was cheap alcohol and some sort of shelter, whether that be a tunnel or a skate park. Landmines brings back fond memories of the first real time we were free to explore the world by ourselves as, what we then thought were, ‘adults’ and the events that ensued’

Following the success of the previous 2 releases of 2023 (Hoping Maybe & Chancer) Landmines has a lot to live up to. Yet with the aid of Boyle’s hi-octane trademark chorus, steamrolling like a modern day young Weller at full pelt, The K’s once again do not flatter to deceive.

After a sell-out UK tour in March, the band now embark on a busy festival period of shows over the summer, also taking in outdoor support shows with the likes of Blondie and Cast interspersed with some intimate club shows of their own before outlining some major announcements for the back end of 2023.
