Yung Saber FT. Akelle “Give Thanks”

Multi-modal maestro Yung Saber is set to unleash his latest EP, No Photocopies, on February 15th, 2024. No Photocopies follows the release of ‘Gucci Prada’, a tasty appetizer for the upcoming EP. The UK dancehall/hip-hop sensation has garnered over 10 million streams across platforms and counting. He stormed the UK Dancehall scene with his track ‘Tump & Kick’, which became an international hit and earned radio plays across the globe in 2021.

Saber went on to do two remixes, the first one featuring Stylo G followed by an All-star remix featuring UK Dancehall trailblazers Big Zeeks, Shanti Force, The Rara, Doktor & Irah. Saber has performed at MADE Festival, Brighton Harbour Festival, Glastonbury, Notting Hill Carnival with Amazon, +44, and many other venues throughout the UK. He has appeared on several BBC radio shows such as Rampage, Seani B and BBC 1Xtra. In February 2023, he attended BBC Maida Vale Session with Seani B and performed his hit single _‘Karl Kani’_ with a live band for BBC dancehall weekender.

In addition to his musical ventures, he boasts achievements as a freelance A&R, model and actor. As an actor, Saber has been featured in Noel Clarke’s film trilogy Brotherhood, the Boiler Room documentary Migrant Sound (which explored the music and culture brought to the UK from the Wind-rush generation), and most recently featured in Rapman’s 2019 blockbuster Blue Story. He has also been involved in various modeling campaigns for the sportswear brand Ellesse.

Born and based in South London, Yung Saber’s musical roots are deep, with both of his parents being reggae DJs, his dad a producer related to the late reggae legend Dennis Brown, and his cousin Dennis Rowe being one of the founders of the great Legendary Saxon Sound, his rich musical upbringing certainly paved the way for musical success. Yung Saber is a single father of three, and all of his hard work and dedication he says, is to change the circle, meaning to ensure his kids have a better life than he had growing up as a youngster. Influenced by the likes of Super Cat and Vybz Kartel, Yung Saber’s sound can be compared to J Hus, Govana, MoStack, Not3s, Krept & Konan and Yxng Bane.

The project sees Yung Saber delivering effortlessly suave vocals, waxing lyrical about a range of topics, from potently political to playful and personal. His vocals flow smoothly over irresistible, rhythm-heavy instrumental arrangements. Five of the seven tracks feature collaborations, diversifying what was already a rich and zesty musical palette. From the gentle shuffle and reverently spiritual vocals and lyrics of the focus track ‘Give Thanks’ (featuring Akelle (WSTRN)) to the hard-hitting dub instrumental and revolutionary themes of ‘System’ (featuring Guinny Pepper & Tippa Ire), No Photocopies\ __has a lot to offer. It is an ode to the richness of the Jamaican diaspora, and by extension Yung Saber’s indelible artistry.

Yung Saber shares: “In this project I explore my sound and paint the picture almost like a movie. This project shows growth within me as an artist and my potential to become one of the biggest names out of Dancehall made in the UK.”
