Genre-queer, Donegal-accented, therapy-rock band TRAMP (Siânna Lafferty, Ellie McFadden, Fionnbarr Doran and Ciaran ‘Steamy’ McCay) re-emerges to the 2024 scene with a tongue-in-cheek cracker of a track, ‘The Birds (Lowered Suspension)’ out Aug 23rd.
The first single from their upcoming debut EP; ‘the bird-cat-dog metaphor’ is just the beginning of their satirical commentary to come with their EP. The playfulness and energy of this song is enough to get you hooked, with the added seriousness of its message – A true reflection of this band’s balance of political commentary with feel-good songwriting.
The video, filmed and directed by Hot Shoe Productions, was also inspired by the association of ‘lowered’ cars with ‘lad culture’, to humorously address its dark side of misogyny. The repetitive line, ‘Not all men are like that, not all men…’ is sung with a purpose -and like the band; not to be misunderstood or underestimated.
TRAMP has rapidly emerged as a formidable force in the Irish DIY music scene. Winners of the ‘BBC Introducing: Artist of the Year Award 2023’ at the NI Music Prize, and recognized by notable platforms such as BBC Across The Line, BBC Radio 1’s Introducing, Nialler9, Dig With It, and Chordblossom, TRAMP is no stranger to the spotlight. They’ve shared stages with local legends like The Undertones, TOUTS, and Cherym, quickly becoming a ticket-selling sensation in Derry.
TRAMP is here to redefine the music landscape with their powerful blend of sound and message. Don’t miss out on ‘The Birds (Lowered Suspension)’ – a track that’s as thought-provoking as it is catchy.
