Following the successful September launch of her album ‘Gravity Of Gold’, Edinburgh based singer-songwriter Alas de Liona announces Halloween single ‘For Forever’, out now.
Alas de Liona and her striking brand of indie-pop is ascending. Following the release of her ethereal, introspective and widely lauded record ‘Gravity of Gold’, she continues with bombastic Halloween single ‘For Forever’ and an accompanying “Lost Boys” 80’s themed music video, written and directed by the singer-songwriter herself.
The gloomy single explores immortality through the perspective of a brooding vampire. Showcasing Alas’ signature elegant vocals and imaginative songwriting, this track was tailor-made for her favourite holiday season and also offers a glimpse into ‘Vespertina’, her upcoming musical screenplay project. More details on that coming soon.
Born in California and raised in the Mojave Desert, Alas de Liona came to the UK to complete a university course, during which her musical talents emerged. In 2020 Alas took her artistry to a new level and recorded the ‘Radio Astronomy’ EP, releasing it the following year. It was praised by national radio and publications like BBC Radio Scotland, Amazing Radio, Scotland on Sunday, YMX, Indie Music Center and got picked up by over 400 Spotify playlists. A project which also allowed the singer to explore her creativity through five distinctively produced music videos.
Her live performances include notable appearances opening for acclaimed artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Travis, and Sister Sledge. She made her Celtic Connections debut in 2022 opening for Kathryn Joseph and Tinderbox and appeared alongside Hamish Hawk and Admiral Fallow at The Proclaimers’ Big Top Concerts.
Making a life changing move from the USA to live full time in Scotland last year, 2024 has proved to be a breakthrough for Alas. Recent performances include shows at Leith FAB Cricket Club, Glasgow’s Hug & Pint, Belladrum Festival, Dublin’s The Ruby Sessions and supporting Emeli Sandé at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Bandstand. With the release of her latest album ‘Gravity Of Gold’, produced by Idlewild’s Rod Jones, and press acclaim from the likes of Clash, The Line Of Best Fit, The Scotsman, The Skinny, The Arts Desk, Fresh On The Net, God Is In The TV, Noctis Magazine and Crack Magazine, she is steadily gaining recognition and showing all the signs of an artist to watch.
