Across the Cumberland River from Music City, the burgeoning neighborhood of East Nashville has become a haven for artists, songwriters, and other creatives. One such songwriter is Andrew Adkins. Adkins is a multi-instrumentalist producer who has been a part of the Nashville community for over a decade. As the city expands and modernizes, so too does Andrew’s music.
Early in his career, Adkins co-founded two exciting bands that served as his entry points into the music industry. He spent several years on the road with his blues-influenced power trio, Mellow Down Easy (Dualtone Records). Before being noticed by actor Ryan Gosling’s independent record label, Werewolf Heart Records, his gritty rock band, Lions for Real, made waves in the music industry. The band broke up almost as quickly as it had formed, leaving Adkins unsure of his musical future.
After years of collaborating in bands, Andrew decided to step away and focus on his own distinct sound— a unique blend of roots-influenced, neo-psychedelic rock. Since 2013, he has put out a number of acclaimed solo albums. Both film and television have used his songs (Lionsgate Films, Paramount +, Peacock, Netflix, Hulu, and CBS). Just a few of the musicians Andrew has appeared on a bill with include Lainey Wilson, Little Big Town, Dum Dum Girls, David “Honeyboy” Edwards, and Billy Joe Shaver.
