Berries “Control”

Returning with their first release since their debut album last year – BERRIES – have unveiled the assured new single: “Control”.

A rampant rock cut that seesaws between rhythmic garage rock and agitated punk, the new release also arrives as the band gear up for a UK headline tour this month.

A quintessential BERRIES track, filled with jagged guitar lines and noise-driven choruses that see layers of instrumentals wriggle and writhe amongst melodic vocals, the band explain:

“”Control” is about channeling inner strength to survive the inevitable dark moments of life. To take control and push on with meaning, or to spiral into nothingness.”

Accompanied by a fitting official video, BERRIES add:

“For the video we wanted to keep things quite honest and simplistic. As the subject matter is quite dark and about finding the ‘light’, we came up with the idea to film by torch light and we ran with it.”

Landing as the first bit of new music from BERRIES since their punchy debut album ‘How We Function’, “Control” continues the same craggy and contagious energy the trio have become best known for.

Released last year to glowing reviews, ‘How We Function’ blends distinctive garage rock melodies interwoven with uplifting messages about what it takes to overcome mental health struggles.

Gaining praise from the likes of Record Collector, The List and The Crack, the album was awarded four out of five stars by Louder Than War who dubbed it “a really well put together debut album that rocks hard and gets its message across succinctly, with a bristling beat and an intelligence that it takes some bands a few albums to achieve”. The band also delivered an exhilarating Radio X Session on John Kennedy’s show.
