DICI “Beautiful Collision”

In the year and a half since the drop of his self-titled debut EP in early 2021, DICI’s been a prolific, non-stop singles and video releasing phenomenon across the globe, racking up a phenomenal 100K TikTok followers, over five million collective Spotify streams and YouTube views and inclusion on over 2100 Spotify playlists. Yet the buzz around his latest track, the infectious, tightly grooving “Beautiful Collision,” dropping September 23, transcends the typical fanfare associated with his trademark freestyle joints.

Emboldened by his success, the multi-talented rapper, producer and label entrepreneur showcases the straight pop side of his artistry – including his powerhouse singing voice, with no rap – for the first time. In addition to the usual releases to streaming and YouTube, “Beautiful Collision” will be promoted to mainstream Top 40 and Rhythmic Contemporary/Top 40 radio as well.

“I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and experiment with something that is more pop, to see how people would respond,” DICI says.

Shifting his clever rhymes, insightful storytelling talents and vibrant production aesthetic into a more conventionally structured pop tune, DICI sets up the killer hook of “Beautiful Collision” with a pre-chorus reflection on the reality that what may have been intended as a short term fling is now evolving into something more complicated. He sings: “I know it’s hard to reason/We’re more than just a season.”

On the poetic four line hook, DICI bluntly shares the intense emotions inherent in a complicated relationship that develops after a seemingly innocent random meeting: “So don’t stop me from believing/Know looks can be deceiving/I’ve been wasting all of my decisions/On our fucked up beautiful collision.”

Released in May, his latest single “Left to Right” quickly racked up over 70,000 streams and 493K views for its video directed by AP and Emmy winning director and cinematographer Brian Bayerl. That track followed an incredible 15 month blaze of hit singles and videos (all created by Bayerl) that includes “Five Rings” (“Five Rings” (311K Views, 112K+ streams), “Something’s Right” (452,000 Views), “Something’s Right (Dance Remix),” “Move Out The Way” “E to S,” “Flip” (370K Views), “I’ve Been Dreaming” (146K Views), “Art of War,” “u n i” (466K Views), “Will You Stay” (471K Views) and “Do What I Can” (213K Views).

One of the most amazing things about DICI’s success is that in only two years, he catapulted from a quarantined 17-year-old freestyling fresh, insightful and often incisive rhymes over crazy-cool beats and soulful atmospheres to a globally influential artist with hundreds of thousands of followers worldwide. His breakthrough came when “305-INTERLUDE” (from his debut EP) was included on the taste making “Chill Rap Vibes 2021” Spotify playlist; the track currently has over 405K streams.

“I literally dedicate 12 hours plus every day to music – waking up, doing music, going to sleep, on repeat – and over the past year and a half, I’ve made a lot of progress on the tech front, too,” DICI says. “The first EP was me saying ‘Hello, I’m here,’ and since then I’ve enjoyed connecting with fans and building a following by regularly dropping new singles with this fresh melodic sound.”

The vibrant movements and tropical imagery in the clip by AP and Emmy winning director and cinematographer Brian Bayerl – along with lyrics like “Left to the right. . . Give me top in the drop on the way to my flight” and “I see how you moving baby/Do that when we cruising” – make it clear that “Left to Right” is a whimsical homage to DICI’s hometown.

“My inspiration is Miami,” says the South Florida based artist, producer and label entrepreneur. . “I wanted to create a fun song that gives a Miami vibe, but at the same time a song that anyone can listen to and enjoy. I also wanted it to be fast paced but at the same time have some breaks. Overall, in my opinion, it is a Miami song.”

“Left to Right” follows a 15 month and counting blaze of popular singles and videos from DICI, an ongoing output that includes the singles “Five Rings” (“Five Rings” (311K Views, 112K+ streams), “Something’s Right” (452,000 Views), “Something’s Right (Dance Remix),” “Move Out The Way” “E to S,” “Flip” (370K Views), “I’ve Been Dreaming” (146K Views), “Art of War,” “u n i” (466K Views), “Will You Stay” (471K Views) and “Do What I Can” (213K Views).

In just over a year, DICI has taken the indie hip-hop world by storm, evolving from a quarantined 17-year-old freestyling fresh, insightful and often incisive rhymes over crazy-cool beats and soulful atmospheres to a globally influential artist with hundreds of thousands of followers worldwide. His breakthrough came when “305-INTERLUDE” (from his debut EP) was included on the taste making “Chill Rap Vibes 2021” Spotify playlist; the track currently has over 378K streams.

“I literally dedicate 12 hours plus every day to music – waking up, doing music, going to sleep, on repeat – and over the past year, I’ve made a lot of progress on the tech front, too,” DICI says. “The first EP was me saying ‘Hello, I’m here,’ and since then I’ve enjoyed connecting with fans and building a following by regularly dropping new singles with this fresh melodic sound.”
