Heather Nation “Pool of Mystery”

Having just returned from a two-month, 11 country tour accompanying Chvrches lead singer Lauren Mayberry, Heather Nation hits the ground running on a series of single + music video releases, starting with the upcoming “Pool of Mystery”. With sonic familiarity to bands like Hiatus Kayiote and Little Dragon, Heathers sound offers lush dream-pop and alternative R&B, the new single does not lack in the full, textural, soulful offerings it brings to her listeners.

‘Pool of Mystery’ the new single cries in reverence to the theme of nostalgia, the longing one can feel for the innocence of beginning again, being new at something, a cry for the type of fresh passion and persistence that newness offers. You’ll hear Nation sing to nostalgia as if it were another person she converses with in lines like “falling for a moment/will I ever see you again/you found me in a song somehow/are you with me everyday”.

Dreamy Indie Alt. artist Heather Nation grounds her vivid and heartfelt lyrics with exploratory pop/r&b grooves in a perfect combination of style and depth. At the intersection of artists like Hiatus Kaiyote, Little Dragon, and Kate Bush, her delicate yet powerful voice is the focal point of her largely self-produced intricate compositions. In a live show setting, Heather masterfully layers elements of shimmery electric guitar, atmospheric vocal harmonies and unmistakable r&b grooves in real-time, whether as a soloist or with her band, making for a dynamic and compelling performance.

More recently, Heather has quickly picked up in the session musician and accompanist world, performing on guitar, synthesizer and vocals with The San Diego group Baby Bushka (an 8 piece all women band that performs the music of Kate Bush), and most recently joining the backing band on guitar, bass, and vocals for Lauren Mayberry, the lead singer of Chvrches. Having worked with countless recording artists, Heather’s talents extend in the fields of session singing, harmony arrangement, producing and songwriting for other up and coming singer songwriters, running Bluelight Room, her private home studio, conducting songwriting mentorships and workshops, and is passionate about making a positive impact in the world through music.
