Kamrun, also known as “Kamrun Aura-Don”, is an American recording artist of Trinidadian and St. Lucian descent. Born and raised in Clearwater, Florida, he spent spent summers in the Caribbean with his grandfather, Calypsonian Gene Lawrence, as well as his cousins in St. Lucia, all of which culminated in a passion for reggae and dancehall music. Siting influences from reggae great like Sizzla Kaloji, Dennis Brown, and Bob Marley to Sean Paul, Damian Marley, and Collie Buddz, as well as hip hop staples like T.I., Jeezy, and 50 Cent, Kamrun describes of himself, “I believe my sound was influenced and created by the sounds and diversity of culture and music that surrounded me growing up”. After spending much free time in Kingtson, Jamaica’s south side involved in the Rastafarian community “Lifeyard”, Kamrun was re named “Aura Don” by one of the leaders of the community, the name translating to English from Jamaican patois into The Ruler of Energy or Boss of Vibes. truly opened his eyes to the positive impact he and his music would soon have on people around the world.
