Outspoken UK-born singer LT has released the official music video for her recently released single, ‘Act Your Age’, via LT Records. The glamorous video was premiered by CelebMix and was directed by Independent filmmaker Brendan Schoenmaker who was also behind rising star Sahara Beck’s video ‘Queen of Hearts’ and LT’s previous single, ‘Rollercoaster’.
LT has earned the support of tastemaker publications NOTION Magazine, CLASH Magazine, Rolling Stone Australia, Popdust (NY), Junkee, Music Feeds, Tonspion, TheMusic.com.au, Atwood Magazine, The Music Network, The Indiependent, The AU Review, Tone Deaf, http://Medium.com / Pop Off, and more.
On airwaves, she was chosen as Producer’s Pick by BBC Introducing in Merseyside and received spins on BBC Music 6’s Introducing Mixtape with Tom Robinson as well as Australian radio broadcaster ABC’s various stations, including triple J, Double J, and triple j Unearthed, while also being playlisted on Amazing Radio UK.
Her previously released record ‘Rollercoaster’ landed placements on Spotify Editorial playlists Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds Pop, and Pop Edge, came 1st place in the 2022 Unsigned Only music competition, and has just received 2 x nominations in this year’s International Songwriting Competition. She has won three Queensland Music Awards, the Carol Lloyd Award, and landed syncs with British Airways, Channel 7, and ABC TV. She has supported the likes of Bernard Fanning (Powderfinger), Missy Higgins, and Ball Park Music all while remaining an entirely independent act.
Born in Ellesmere Port, UK, and now living in Tropical North Queensland in Australia, LT (formerly known as Leanne Tennant), has earned a reputation as one of Queensland’s hardest-working independent artists. She is set to play a series of intimate shows in celebration of her new single ‘Act Your Age’ and has more new music on the horizon. Inspired by anything and everything, LT draws upon the rhythmic bounce of Devon Cole, the pop sensibilities of Lily Meola, and audio aesthetics often likened to Goldfrapp or Kimbra. Her own music touches on aspects of MARINA, Sohodolls, and Melanie Martinez.
Rejecting conformity, LT breaks the mould, freeing herself from the constraints and mundanities of a 9 to 5 job. Her new video sees her leading a mob of dance-possessed employees, inciting rebellion and unshackling them from others’ expectations.
LT says: “ACT YOUR AGE is a driving, rhythmically charged bop that explores and rejects the constraints of society. It is an argument against society’s expectations to fit into a certain framework to be deemed acceptable. That you must be of a certain age, look and act a certain way, or have a 9-5 and life-long debt. Filmed in one day at Brisbane City Hall, it provided the crew and I with a lot of laughs, sweat, goosebumps, and old-school dance battles. The creatives involved were from different walks of life, with varying ages, backgrounds and skillsets, but together we told one story. It was the best day!”
