Olive Louise “Greatness”

Olive Louise, New York born, is “Laufey meets Olivia Rodrigo” says A1234 who recently took notice of Olive’s last release ‘No Medicine’. Olive grew up on Long Island practicing the violin every day before school and was a voice major at boarding school in Michigan where she says she found her love for alternative music; listening to artists like Atmosphere, Santigold, and Kimbra. As a child, Olive wasn’t allowed to listen to anything but classical music and says “ my brain always goes to piano and violin first, it’s my factory setting”. Her production is heavily laden in soaring strings and floating harmonies, and has been associated with the dream pop, indie folk, and Americana genres.

Her latest single “Greatness” is a hauntingly seductive track featuring her signature vocals weaving effortlessly into an explosive chorus. The production is lush and glides seamlessly from a playful toy piano mocking in the background, to aggressive and hard hitting drums. The reletable narrative is one of inner strength, and stepping, or slithering- into confidence, with the artist confiding, “Greatness has been my go to before I have to deal with confrontation, when I need to set boundaries, or when I have to do something uncomfortable; it just puts me in this head space where I’m in control. “

Olive Louise slides into a new skin in the “Greatness” music video, inviting the viewer to follow. In an all tulle dress and wearing a large boa, the visual is filled with captivating moments. The music video feels more like a short film with Olive Louise directing it herself alongside DOP Barbara Safonkina.Growing up with story books like Alice In Wonderland, she brings this to life in a way that meets American Horror Story for an enticing watch.

Olive’s music is haunting and heroic. Olive Louise is for the time traveler, the wanderer and those hungry for real storytelling and adventure.
